Lambing Snow

tartanlobster

There is a flock of sheep in the field over the way and the first lambs arrived this weekend. However, even though it is now officially spring it looks like we're going to get 'Lambing Snow' next week.

It's nice and cosy in the sewing room though and the Mechanical Beastie with the Jaggy Needles has been busy.

As promised, here are some pics of the completed Ditty Bags.

They measure 9" x 9" (I haven't included the drawstring band in this measurement) and they are 3" deep when stood up.

After the Ditty Bags, the next adventure with fabric was something new. It's another design from Anna Graham at Noodlehead and it's a messenger bag. I really like Anna's patterns and this one did not disappoint.

The exterior of the bag is oilcloth fabric with the colour name 'Seaweed' (believe me it looks better than it sounds though!)

Wait till you see inside.......

Chickens!!

The bag is for a friend and when I showed her the fabrics I've got in my stash she picked out the chickens straight away - great choice don't you agree?

As well as the bag lining, the chickens are also inside the pockets and under the flap.

The way the bag is constructed involves binding the upper edges of the front pockets and the bag itself. I reckoned that if there was binding going on then it might as well be eye catching!

I used a really thin black and white stripe fabric and I think it adds a nice pop of colour.

So - there you have it - a new bag!

(Oh, and this style is called 'Jill' - check out my previous blogs to find out where the names come from)

That chickens fabric got me thinking though....

Who doesn't like egg and soldiers? Now, if only you had something to keep your eggs warm while you slather the butter on the toast...........

Watch this space!
